Also, the book is very well illustrated with photos, drawings, radiographs and tables. The references are current and relevant. The chapters are most informative. The spine, axes and lengths, and tumors are particularly well done.

The book will benefit residents in orthopedics as well as orthopedic surgeons in developed and developing countries. This single-authored, concise, softcover book covers musculoskeletal injuries in adults.
The purpose is to provide a concise and current curriculum for the management of orthopedic trauma which can be used by orthopedic trainees and trained orthopedists preparing for testing in musculoskeletal trauma.
The book is primarily written for orthopedic residents. Other medical professionals caring for adult trauma patients can benefit from its content. The author is an associate professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Hong Kong.
The content is organized into 12 sections. The first chapter immediately engages the reader by asking a series of 10 relevant questions which are followed by brief comments. One such question is, "Radiological and clinical outcome: Do they correlate?" Each chapter is written to maximize information with the least amount of words. To this end, the entire book is organized with specific relevant headings followed by a series of sentences written in bullet format. The chapter on traditional and new implants is most informative and very well done. The subject index is thorough. The illustrations are mainly photographs of radiographs, although there are some color photographs. The author chose to ignore the OTA/AO classification of fractures and instead he relies on other conventional descriptions. Clearly missing are line drawings. For instance, the section on calcaneal fractures refers to the angle of Gissane and Bohler without a description of where they are located on the bone. A drawing of these angles would help the reader.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound is an increasingly widely used technique, but relatively few centres undertake enough scanning to have developed the requisite level of expertise and anatomical knowledge. This book is aimed at the radiology trainee, the practising radiologist with an interest in musculoskeletal work, sonographers and other clinicians in related disciplines such as orthopaedics and sports medicine, who are getting more directly involved in ultrasound at a 'hands-on' level. It aims to provide the reader with the essential grounding in normal ultrasound anatomy that they require in order to be able to assess when this anatomy is disrupted through injury and/or disease. The book will be structured systemically, each anatomical area of interest being covered by high quality ultrasound scans and accompanying, concise text. Around 100 individual anatomical descriptions are included in total and the ultrasound images presented would be a mixture of axial, sagital or coronal, to best illustrate the anatomy being described. Wherever possible, unlabelled versions of each scan will be set alongside anatomically labelled versions for clarity, and MR images are occasionally used for comparative purposes throughout the book.

The best part about this book is the opportunity to go over the notes compiled for course participants. The authors of each topic read like a Who's Who of musculoskeletal imaging. Plus, reference lists at the end of each section offer the reader a chance to stay current with the literature. As a compilation of the lectures notes, there are not as many images as would normally be seen in a book targeted for imagers. However, that is not the goal of this book.
